Urban infrastructure is evolving rapidly — yet a disconnect is growing between these changes and public awareness of them. Even large-scale transportation projects often go unnoticed until it’s too late or discovered purely by chance.
In recent years, Moscow has made bold strides in promoting cycling: over the past five years, the length of bike lanes has increased by 63%, the "Green Ring" cycling route was launched, and the number of rides has surged. Yet these important developments are often buried in dry reports, technical maps, and impersonal press releases — failing to engage the people they’re meant for.
To make this information more accessible and compelling, we created a comic based on real data. The story follows Stepan the pigeon — a blogger and everyday city dweller — as he discovers how Moscow has changed for cyclists.
Blending journalism, data visualization, and the art of comics, our project brings modern cycling infrastructure to life and helps residents explore the city’s new opportunities from a fresh perspective.
